BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) Affiliate Gradings – Sydney, Dubbo, Nowra

I ran 3 BJJ gradings at Team Perosh Mixed Martial Arts affiliate schools in Sydney, Dubbo and Nowra in March 2018.

Congrats to Team Perosh MMA affiliate academy IMC who had their BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) grading last Friday 16th March in Sydney. Students from IMC Kemps Creek Martial Arts, IMC Liverpool Martial Arts, IMC Prospectand IMC Wetherill Park graded. Four new BJJ Blue Belts were awarded on the night! Well done everyone.

What fantastic grading at Team Perosh affiliate school Dubbo Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on 10^th March. Well done to everyone who graded including a new purple belt Jerryn Biles and to the 4 new blue belts.

Congrats to Richard Ktb Kemps from Team Perosh affiliate school Kemp’s Thai Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts on receiving his BJJ Brown belt on the 9^th March!

Team Perosh Mixed Martial Arts have been competing and winning in BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) around the country in Sydney and Byron Bay.

Congrats to Team Perosh student Axyl Howie on winning a gold in nogi and silver in gi at the Byron Bay BJJ Open on Sunday 4th March. Well done Axyl!

Team Perosh had 4 students win 3 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal at the IBJJF Sydney Open on Sunday 18th March in Sydney. Frances Bavaro won double gold, Rebecca Beuk won a gold and bronze and Mason Elias won a silver medal. Congrats to Ben Adams who made his debut in BJJ competition. Well done to everyone who competed!

On 25^th March Team Perosh competed in the Australian Girls in Gi BJJ competition and the ISKA NSW Open in Sydney. At the AGIG Frances Bavaro won gold, Amelia Roufas won double gold and Jayda La Fleur won gold. And big congrats to Emma Hunt for competing. Only gold medals were awarded at this event. At the NSW BJJ Open Damian Iacono and Natasha Iacono each won a gold medal. Well done to everyone!

UAEJJ Oceania BJJ Pro Championships Sydney

Great individual and team results from the weekend! We had 4 adults and 6 kids win 1 gold, 4 silver and a bronze medal at the UAEJJ Oceania Pro BJJ Championships in Sydney on 25th February.

Gold went to Axyl Howie, Silver to Frances Bavaro, Rebecca Beuk, Damian Iacono and Amelia Roufas and a Bronze to Anthony Roufas.

Frances Bavaro won a free all expenses paid ticket to the World Pro Championships in April in Abu Dhabi by finishing 2nd overall in the Oceania region for the 2017/18 season!

Our academy Team Perosh came 8th overall in the teams event with only 10 competitors.

Props also go to Tony Pycroft, Ebony Hughes, Guy Vaccaro and Natasha Iacono who had tough matches on the day.

BJJ results for February 2018 in Sydney and SE QLD

We had 3 adults and 10 kids win 7 gold, 6 silver and 7 bronze medals at the Grappling Industries on 17th-18th February in Sydney! Congrats to Steve Rudic, Wayne Fotheringham, Damian Iacono (Double), Kobe Harb, Jake Lapi and Dante Barbanera on winning gold, Keegan La Fleur (Double), Jayda La Fleur, Axyl Howie, Kobe Harb and Alexei Fotheringham on winning silver and Natasha Iacono, Jayda La Fleur, Axyl Howie, Alexei Fotheringham, Campbell Lahoud (Bronze) and Dante Barbanera on winning bronze.

The following day Axyl Howie won a gold and a bronze medal at the South East QLD Championships!

Well done to everyone that competed!

Catch up with Carlos Machado BJJ Blackbelt

I met up with long time friend Todd Fox on Saturday 3rd February and had a good Muay Thai Kickboxing padwork session and also BJJ roll with him. He is a BJJ black belt under Carlos Machado. He was in Sydney as Roger Waters‘ head of security for his World tour. Great catch up and great training! And great concert too. Thank you for the tickets!

UAEBJJ Australian Pro Jiu Jitsu Results January 2018

A gold and 2 silver medals for Team Perosh at the UAEBJJ Pro Australian Championships in Melbourne today 28th January.

Frances Bavaro won 1 gold and 1 silver medal in the female adults purple belt division. She lost the final by 2 points in the last 30 seconds of her weight division. Then in the open division she won her first match beating the girl who beat her earlier on and then went on to win the final by submission!

Axl Howie won silver in the kids division. He won his first match and then lost in the final. He was put up one belt group and also weight group.

I will post more action shots when I get them.

Events BJJ Sydney Results 21st January

Congrats to the 26 Team Perosh students who competed at the Events BJJ competition 21st January in Sydney. The 13 adults and 13 kids won a combined 11 gold, 12 silver and 11 bronze medals.

Gold went to Michael Tony Pycroft (Double), De Marco (Triple), James Zai (Double), Luca De Bonis, John Biona, John Kim and Sam Cassaniti.

Silver to Michael De Marco, Nathan Maitre (Double), Daniel Diaz, Natasha Skvorc, Luca De Bonis, John Kim, Axyl Howie, Keegan La Fleur, Harry Herrera, Dante Barbanera and Brigite Massih.

Bronze to Anthony Lapi, Elyssa Mastroianni, Philip Craparotta, Daniel Markovski, Nathan Maitre, Aaron Walsh, Jake Herrera, Amelia Roufas, Anthony Roufas, Jayda La Fleur, and Lewis Massih.

Team Machado won 2 out of 3 team trophies. See photo below.
