Ross Pearson Seminar
UFC Lightweight fighter Ross Pearson held a Boxing and Kickboxing seminar at my mma gym in sydney on Saturday 20th December. About 35 students attended the seminar. Ross specialises in striking and showed many striking techniques, combinations and strategy to the students for over 3 hours. He stayed afterwards to take photos and talk with everyone. All the students said they enjoyed the seminar and would start practicing what they learnt. You can check out some photos below.
End of year gradings and Christmas party
My two Sydney gyms finished the year off with gradings in BJJ, Muay Thai Kickboxing and Kids BJJ and then our annual Christmas Party with a BBQ on the beach.
About 160 students graded from my Concord and Moorebank MMA gyms. Two new BJJ black belts were awarded to Andrew King and Jonathon Cuniowski and nine new brown belts to Aydin Mrouki, Tony Pycroft, Wade Huang, Adam Assuncao, Tim Wong, Daniel Ung, Tyrone Bell, Andrew Husmann and Billy Sam.
About 150 students, family and friends came to our Christmas party at Collaroy Beach on Saturday 13th December. It was a great day and the rain held out. Our annual awards were handed out. Adults Competitor of the year Frances Bavaro, Adults Most Improved of the year Andrew Mills, Kids Competitor of the year Oliver Silvestro and Kids Most Improved of the year Zander Mucenski.
Affiliate BJJ, Muay Thai Kickboxing and MMA gradings
It’s grading time and all the students at my affiliate BJJ and MMA gyms in Sydney, Mackay and Rockhamptom smashed it. The Griffith grading will be in August. The Sydney BJJ gyms are Macquarie University, Elite Martial Arts and Martial Arts research Academy. In Mackay is Mackay MMA and in Rockhampton is Rhino MMA. SPMA grading June 2014
Over 160 students graded in BJJ, Muay Thai Kickboxing and Kids BJJ at both of my Sydney gyms in Concord and Moorebank. The gradings were from 23rd June to 26th June. You can check out all the results and photos on our SPMA Concord Facebook page and SPMA Moorebank Facebook page. The next gradings are in 3 months’ time in September.
Great day at the Moorebank Grand Reopening
About 100 people came throughout the day and helped us celebrate the Grand Reopening of our Moorebank MMA, BJJ and Thai Kickboxing gym. The rain held out and everyone enjoyed the free BBQ, took a tour of our new gym and the kids enjoyed the free jumping castle. We had special guests Craig Kelly, MP who is the federal member for Hughes and the Mayor of Liverpool City Council Ned Mannoun who toured the gym, gave a speech to everyone there and even got down and dirty and took a few action shots. Gradings at affiliate gyms
Macquarie Uni and Elite Martial Arts both had their gradings last week in Sydney. Macquarie Uni had BJJ and Thai Kickboxing gradings and Elite Martial Arts had BJJ gradings for adults and kids. Once again the students did great. A credit to them putting in the hard work and to my instructors for being great coaches.
SPMA Moorebank Grand Reopening
Come and join us this Sunday 13th April at our Grand Reopening of SPMA Moorebank MMA, BJJ and Thai Kickboxing gym. There is a free BBQ, free jumping castle, exclusive membership deals and will be opened by the Mayor of Liverpool. It all starts from 10am to 2pm. SPMA Gradings
One week of gradings just finished at SPMA with 200 students grading in BJJ and Thai Kickboxing across both of my Sydney gyms. Gradings started in Moorebank on Monday 31st March with Kids BJJ and Adults BJJ and the following night was Adults Thai Kickboxing. On Wednesday 2nd April at Concord was Kids BJJ (11-14yo) and Adults BJJ and on Thursday 3rd April was Kids BJJ (6-10yo) and Adults Thai Kickboxing. You can se photos below of all the classes.
BRAVE Anti Bullying Event
I participated in an anti-bullying event called BRAVE on 22nd March. Anthony was joined by fellow UFC fighters BJ Penn, Urijah Faber, James Tehuna and Dylan Andrews. The event was to raise awareness and tackle ways to stop bullying. The event was held at the UFC gym in Sydney.
