Dubbo BJJ off to IBJJF World Nogi BJJ Championships

I was supposed to teach a grading and nogi seminar at Team Perosh Mixed Martial Arts affiliate BJJ academy Dubbo Brazilian Jiu Jitsu on Saturday 30th November. I got to the airport any my flight was delayed for 3 hours. My flight and all flights to Dubbo were then cancelled and I did not make it.
 
They were all training hard and were prepared for grading. Well done to head coach Jerryn Biles on getting everyone ready for their grading. I will be back soon.
 
And very best of luck to Jerryn Biles, Jacen Hugget, Maiysha Craig and Zach Ogden who left for LA yesterday to compete in the IBJJF Nogi World BJJ Championship this weekend!

I taught a grading at Team Perosh Mixed Martial Arts affiliate academy IMC Kemps Creek last Friday. The IMC grading included all IMC academies from Kemps Creek, Liverpool, Wetherill Park and Prospect. Big congrats to everyone who graded and extra congrats to new BJJ Blue Belts Nicholas & Damien. Well done to all the coaches on getting everyone ready for their grading.

Grappling Industries Sydney results

Team Perosh MMA Five Dock had 16 students compete at Grappling Industries last Sunday. They won 9 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals. Team Perosh came second in Best Academy!

Gold was won by Julian Tsitsos, Aryan Singh, Axyl Howie (Double), Dante Barbenera (Double), Jake Lapi (Double) and Isaac Herodotou. Silver was won by Julian Tsitsos, Breen Howlin, Joel Gaal (Double), Oshae Kabbara and Jonah Kabbara (Double). Bronze was won by Alex Kelly, Aryan Singh, Isaac Herodotou, Oshae Kabbara, Elyse Lapi, Antonio Fara and Dejan Kalagurgevic.

Extra congrats to Julian Tsitsos who as a Juvenile (16-17yo) Blue Belt entered the adult advanced division in nogi and beat a brown belt twice for gold!

Team Perosh MMA Five Dock had 23 students compete at the NSW BJJ Summer Cup last Sunday. They won 7 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Gold was won by Damian Iacono, Kobe Harb, Axyl Howie, Jake Lapi, Dante Barbanea, Isaac Herodotou and Elyse Lapi. Silver was won by Steve Kim, Darren Chism (Double), Luca Pangalo, Natasha Iacono, Aryan Singh and Lewis Massih. Bronze was won by Steve Kim (Double), Darren Chism, Alek Barsic, Johnny DiBiase, Antonio Fara and Brigitte Massih.

Well done to Team Perosh affiliate Academies Pure Jiu-Jitsu, Movement Martial Arts, Elite Martial Arts and Giant Martial Arts who put in competitors and had podium finishes winning a combined 8 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals.

New BJJ Black Belt in Mackay and 7 in Brisbane

I taught a BJJ seminar on Wednesday night last week and then the next day at the grading I had the honour of presenting David Garnham with his BJJ Black Belt on Thursday last week in Mackay.

David is the owner and head coach of Mackay MMA and has been a Team Perosh affiliate for over 6 years. David has been training for 12 years and been teaching for most of that. The black belt was well over due but we still put him through a 20 x 3-minute round shark tank. He put in a stella performance like he has for the past 12 years.

It was a great night which was shared by his great students, family and friends. Congratulations David!

I taught a BJJ seminar on Friday night last week and then attended the grading at Team Perosh affiliate academy Advance Martial Arts in Brisbane. No less than 7 BJJ Black Belts were awarded by Head Coach Matt Cooper along with a number of new Blue, Purple and Brown Belts. Matt Cooper is a 3rd Degree BJJ Black Belt under Anthony. It was a great weekend. Congratulations to everyone.

Team Perosh student Axyl Howie did a double double on the weekend. He won double gold in gi and nogi divisions in 2 comps in 2 days at the ISKA BJJ comp and Little Heroes BJJ comp. That’s 4 gold medals from 4 divisions. Well done Axyl at both ISKA BJJ and Little Heroes BJJ comps!

What a weekend of BJJ! Team Perosh BJJ team had 6 adults and 10 kids win 8 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals and Coach Anthony wins double gold.

Adults (Juveniles, Adults and Masters)

Coach Anthony Perosh double gold, Guy Vaccaro gold, Michael De De Marco Silver and Bronze, Frances Bavaro Silver and Bronze, Julian Tsitsos Silver and Nathan Maitre Bronze.

Kids (Pee Wees (7-9 yo), Juniors (10-12 yo), Teens (13-15yo)

Gold won by Damian Iacono, Kobe Harb, Aryan Singh, Axyl Howie and Dante Barbanera. Silver won by Natasha Iacono and Jake Lapi. Bronze won by Ruben Darchinyan, Isaac Herodotou and Elyse Lapi.

Affiliate Academies

From Pure Heidi Bowie won gold and Jack Bowie won silver. From Movement William Bunn won gold and Max Scalise won double gold. From Elite Joshua Dickinson won silver and Lachlan Dickinson won bronze.

Team Results

Team Perosh had a small adult’s team which finished outside the placings. The kids team was large and strong. Our kids team won Third Best Academy overall, Second in Pee Wees and First in the Juniors!

Team Perosh won Best BJJ Academy and RCJ Machado came second in Best Team at the Events BJJ Oceanic Championship on 12th October. Team Perosh won 10 gold, 5 silver and 4 bronze medals.

Gold to James Gill (Double), Brandt Van Lieshout, John Dunn, Julian Tsitsos, Kobe Harb, Aryan Singh, Axyl Howie, Jake Lapi and Dante Barbanera. Silver to Brantdt Van Lieshout, Breen Howlin, Oshae Kabbara, Isaac Herodotou and Elyse Lapi. Bronze to Breen Howlin, Muayad Alhadi, Jordan Zarb and Jonah Kabbara.
